Oregon Ironwood is the densest native tree in Oregon! In fact, it sinks in water. Colors range from brown to pink in the heartwood with a yellowish sapwood. Checking can develop during the drying process. This wood is well worth trying for its great workability and fine grain. This Oregon Ironwood is freshly cut; it is completely wax sealed to slow the drying process. Box heart may be present. This wood is ideal for turned vessels. Many pieces have partially sawn edges or bark sections that may contain checks and splits. This piece has inclusions and splits. Please see pictures for details.
