Figured Chilean Tineo Slab

Also known as Indian Apple, this unique species from South America has golden sapwood when first milled that darkens to a rich American Cherry color within a month or two.  The heartwood is marketed in veneer form as Tineo. Heartwood colors are strikingly beautiful with a bluish black variegated stripe through pinkish red. Steinway Piano Company makes a high end grand piano out of this wood!  Tineo is unstable until dried with considerable shrinkage during the drying process.  Our larger turning stock is sold freshly cut and will need to be twice turned or allowed to move after shaping. Lumber is dry and usually surfaced on two sides.  The wood is easy to work and glues well.  Subtle and very exotic! Dry and ready to use!  Unique live edge. Tight grain with contrasting colors. Surfaced on two sides. A few checks that are 8-12" long on the narrow face.

Figured Dyer Oak Slab

The Dyer Oak burl grew to record size in the fertile soils of Oregon’s southern Willamette Valley. With a massive 9 ft. diameter, it is a closer match in size to a huge Redwood burl. This was the largest known Oak burl in the Northwest, weighing in at a colossal 28,900 lbs. (14.5 tons). Special heavy duty equipment was required to load this on a low boy semi trailer which had to be flagged for a “wide load”. It is common to have nice burl, fiddleback and interesting color shades that resemble Australian Black Heart Sassafras. Own your piece of this historic burl today! This is one of the few slabs of the historic Dyer Oak Burl that we have. This slab 11" average width.  There is nice fiddleback around the large knot. Deep checks around the knot. Live edge. Marbled Italian Olive Slab

Oleo Europa, grown throughout many areas of Central Europe, was planted by locals, soldiers, and anyone who has enjoyed eating olives or cooking with olive oil.  Native European stock tends to produce larger boules with larger, thicker, and more stable lumber.  Ideal for high end cabinets, end tables, and fancy turned articles.  European Olive tends to have regular grain patterns (not fiddle back or burl) unlike the orchard trees in the United States.  A rare and prized species in exotic lumber.  Air dried 3-4 years and generally surfaced on one or more faces.  Italy.  This is the same species of olive that is sent from the "Holy land" it has just been grown elsewhere. Lumber is kiln dried, surfaced on two sides, and ready to use. Expect a twist, bow, or cup in all boards. We try and describe all boards as accurately as we can. 1/4" twist. Planer skip at end.
