Juniper has a pungent odor when milling (like other cedars). Juniper is generally easy to work. Colors range from warm orange to rich orange/red with pronounced white sapwood on the edges. Irregular grain patterns that are pleasing to the eye are often present. This wood is freshly cut and wax sealed. It is ideal for twice turning. There may be minor end or surface checks and knots are present in some. Box hearts are present in some. Bark sections are common, please see photos for details.
