INCLUDES 1 WOOD BLANK (several blanks are shown to indicate the range of color/grain to expect). Palm is the only family in the monocot order. The wood is basically a bundle of small straws that are fibrous. Asian Red Palm is durable and hard with the Maroon fibers densely packed together and surrounded by lighter colored, less dense material. The end grain shows the dark Maroon bundles crowded together like the end of a steel cable. There are not any growth rings visible in Palm wood. Our stock is dried and ready to use! Wax sealed ends are common. This unique species from Mexico can yield amazing results but it is challenging to work! Red Palm, by nature, is soft in areas so using C.A. glue is recommended.
