Collection: Pine

Pine is a diverse, fast growing tree that flourishes worldwide, but is most often found in northern temperate areas. Cook Woods carries several species of pine including Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa), Sugar Pine (Pinus lambertiana), and Lodgepole Pine (Pinus contorta). This evergreen species produces softwood that is easy to work with hand and power tools, sands and finishes well, and produces an attractive finish. The warm, aged golden tones in Pine wood make it desirable for a variety of woodworking projects including mantels, tables, woodturning articles, carved items, furniture, and more. Pine wood often contains knots and blue staining; these natural characteristics can vary widely from piece to piece and between each tree. The density of pine wood can also vary depending on the species and conditions in which it is grown. In general, though, it is lighter than hardwoods due to its coniferous origins. Pine wood is an affordable and easy-to-use option for woodworkers.
