Sycamore Burl
This Old World Sycamore burl is also known as Oriental Plane Tree burl and is classified under the scientific name Platanus orientalis. The original growth range for this wood is from Southeast Europe to Western Asia. This is a large deciduous tree that can grow to 100 ft. or more and has a large spreading crown. Diameters of the tree can be up to 6 feet! The wood has a medium density, glues well, and has good working properties. This salvaged tree was from an urban area in the USA and was removed because it was a hazard. Now it can be utilized for beautiful woodworking projects!
