Precious Australian Goldfield Burl

Red Mallee burl is one of four unique and incredible burls that grow in the Australian gold mining fields. This native Australian timber has a distinctive mix of vivid pink, red, and violet heartwood with contrasting white sapwood. The wood is dense and easily yields a smooth, durable finish with light sanding. It is a rare wood that offers a naturally artistic palette for any artisan. Burl squares and bowl blanks have tight figure/burl and colors that are ideal forboxes, spindles, pens, knives, and other fine articles. Burl eyes may develop incursions but are generally very small and limited to the sapwood.
