Rich hues & warm tones set apart this beautiful turning wood! Monkeypod is a hardwood that is derived from a graceful and beautiful tree with a 2-4 ft. diameter and a trunk of up to 70 ft. Our Costa Rican Monkeypod is an excellent choice for furniture and turned articles. Dark chocolate browns and iridescent golden colors swirl together with black striping to form a beautiful hue. The wood is moderately hard, lightweight and strong. It finishes beautifully and turns easily, making it a natural choice for turners!  There are some very large blanks in this special.  All pieces are freshly cut and are wax sealed.  These are ideal for twice turning as the wood dries quickly when roughed out into 3/4" to 1" thick walled bowls and then allowed to air dry in a paper bag for a couple of months. After they are dry you can finish turn them to your desired wall thickness and then turn to a satin smooth finish. Monkeypod has colors that are a smooth blend of Hawaiian Koa and Chocolate Heart.
