Many of you have heard of Curly Pyinma, which is a beautiful, highly figured exotic hardwood that has deep penetrating curl. The burl wood in this special is cut from burls from the curly Pyinma burl tree.  This burl is very rare and difficult to obtain!  From S. E. Asia, it is also sometimes called Asian Satinwood on the US market. Trees are typically 40-75' tall with diameter of 2-3' average with some larger. This tree also produces un-figured stock that is used for cabinets, floors, and other projects in Asia.  The wood is stable in service with darker colors than Eastern Maples.  It is susceptible to surface checks and pin holes before drying.  It is excellent for pool cues, knives, duck calls, bowls, vessels, and pen stock.  This species produces some of the deepest 3D figure in the World. The wood in this special has been partially air dried for 1-1/2 years. Most blanks are completely wax sealed; some are wax sealed only on ends.  There may be some planer bite on the quarter sawn faces that is minor and will easily turn away.  Larger bowl blanks may have a minor check or two on faces (these should easily turn away).  95% of these blanks are clean, free of defects, and have excellent burly grain!  All of this stock was hand selected for incredible figure! 100 or more eyes are possible in one square inch on the museum grade pieces.  This is incredible wood that has no equal. Please leave wax on the wood until use.
