Watch this Youtube video to see how Cook Woods got started! In 1998, Chris Cook purchased his first Wood-Mizer sawmill and began cutting local woods in North Dakota. Operating out of his college dorm room, he made pens, boxes, and other crafts as well as fly fishing boxes to sell at local craft fairs. In 1999, Chris & Catherine Cook married and moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where they began focusing more on wood! Operating out of Mom's garage and then a small rental unit, they began selling to customers. Shortly after, they developed their first tiny website. In 2000, they purchased their first land, complete with a 1950s shed and bare fields. With Chris' innovative mind and background in industrial technology, the bare land quickly became new buildings, housing state of the art equipment from around the World and honored with the title of wood-mizer's 1st place business best winner in 2012. But Chris didn't stop there, he moved on to build the world's largest WM1000 wood-mizer sawmill, equipped to cut enormous logs and again honored with the title of wood-mizer's "business best" 1st place winner this year in 2016. Meanwhile, Catherine has worked steadily at providing exceptional customer service, employee guidance, and a website experience that is unsurpassed. With their two beautiful children and a steadily growing business, you'll want to keep an eye on these two!
