Bloodwood, Brosimum paraense, has commercial names that include Cardinal wood, Blood wood, Satine, Satina, and Satine rubanne. A dense, fine grained wood, Bloodwood takes a high polish and can be used for anything from musical instruments, fine furniture, flooring, dye wood and intarsia, to inlay, and more. From South America (chiefly Brazil) Bloodwood trees range from 40-70 tall with diameter of 12 up to 24 for a large tree. Limbs are generally present in the lower sections of logs and are cut out to produce clear usable lumber.
