Collection: Locust, Black

Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) is a premium hardwood known for its striking yellow-green hues and exceptional durability. Also called False Acacia or Robinia, this medium-sized tree can reach heights of 60 to 100 feet and diameters up to 4 feet, making it an ideal choice for high-performance, long-lasting projects both indoors and out. With a density of 0.66 to 0.77 and a Janka hardness rating of 1,700 lb/ft, Black Locust is one of the hardest and most resilient domestic hardwoods available. Its look is often compared to Osage Orange. Black Locust turns beautifully on a lathe and, while its grain can make machining a challenge, it glues and finishes with ease, offering excellent results for fine woodworking, decking, and outdoor projects.
