Collection: Ebony, Brazilian

Also known as Coração de Negro or Gombera, Brazilian Ebony is a dense and heavy South American hardwood prized for its rich coloration and striking visual contrast. Before it oxidizes, the heartwood exhibits reddish to orangish-brown hues, which gradually darken to deep purple-black over time. The pale yellow to white sapwood creates a stunning contrast with the darker heartwood, enhancing its decorative appeal. Grain patterns in Brazilian Ebony can vary from straight to interlocked, and the wood typically has a naturally high luster. It is considered durable and well-suited for long-lasting applications; however, due to its natural oil content, Brazilian Ebony can be somewhat challenging to glue, requiring proper surface preparation. This species is extremely difficult to find in large, clean boards. It is a stunning choice for a variety of woodworking, including furniture, cabinets, musical instruments, turned articles, boxes, and other high end articles.
