Briar Burl

Briar burl, Erica arborea, is a small shrub between 10-13 feet tall with diameters of 8” to 16”. This revered Mediterranean burl grows between the stem and the roots. The Ebauchon burl blanks are cut from the center of the burl and have random burl patterns. These are the least expensive Briar blanks. The Plateaux burl blanks are the highest grade and most expensive, producing the finest projects. Plateaux blanks are cut on the outside of the burl and will show the highest concentration of eyes.
