Collection: Branquilho

Sebastiana commersoniana (commonly known as Branquilho) is a small hardwood shrub or tree that typically grows to heights of 20 to 40 feet. Native to the subtropical regions of South America, it can be found in countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, and Bolivia. This species is pollinated by bees and thrives in moist soils, often in open areas near bodies of water. Branquilho wood is heavy, dense, and stiff. Its coloration ranges from light golden brown to dark, marbled streaks. It is heavy and dense, but is considered non-durable for structural uses. It is excellent for lathe work and takes a finish well. Its primary applications include turned articles and small furniture items. Due to its limited availability outside of South America, Branquilho wood is considered very rare on the international market.
