Never Before Seen ~ XF Beeswing Figured African Wenge!

share
Wenge is a unique species of hardwoods from equatorial West Africa. Wenge hasfine dark lines with narrow brown streaks. Chocolate brown lines appear black when a clear finish is applied and the lighter colored streaks show as subtle contrast. The closest species match in color and working properties is Pheasant wood which is extremely popular and in short supply. Wenge is a good wood to use in place of Gabon Ebony when larger defect free sizes are required. Trees are generally 60-100 tall with clear trunks up to the base of the canopy. Trunks are 20-40 in diameter with 3-4 of sapwood present. Wenge has been difficult to obtain over the last 15 years due to the internal conflict in Africa. During the last 15 years we have never seen a figured log like this! We feel privileged to be able to supply this to you.
