Asian Tiger Eye Burl

Asian Tiger Eye Burl

Asian Tiger Eye, Aphanamixis polystachya, is a medium sized Southeast Asian evergreen tree that can grow to a height of 95 ft. and diameter up to 3 ft. with a buttressed base extending wider.  The tree grows in well draining soils with constant tropical humidity. Logs are generally round with reddish furrowed trunks. A few of the trees produce world class burls with colors ranging from red and orange to some with pink hues. This exotic hardwood has good workability and glues well. It does not have the blunting effect on tools that some tropical burls cause. Wonderful depth of color and and capacity for a lovely natural polish will make your woodworking projects truly stand out.
