DETAILS

Juniper, a thick bushy tree with disheveled appearance, grows in the arid Western United states in higher elevations above 2,500 ft.. Trees generally grown from 25 to 50 ft. with some exceptions being up to 80 ft. Diameters are typically from 12" to 4 ft. in diameter with most 18-24". Large knots are pervasive and hollows in larger logs render them useless for lumber. Lumber has a pungent odor when milling (like other cedars). The wood is ideal for rustic mantles, end table tops, bar tops, interior siding, bowls, spindle turning and more! Knots, splits, and checks provide character to the species. Juniper has a beginner skill level for pens and turning. It is inexpensive and generally easy to work.

This piece has been surfaced on two sides and has minor planer skip on one end. There are a few bug holes present. This piece has so many uses we're not sure where to start! Bartop, countertops, coat rack, you name it! Make this piece yours and design something truly breathtaking! This is a truly unique piece that can be made into a photo board, wall hanging, etc. This piece is truly eye catching! It would be great to make shelves out of as well!

DETAILS

Verdecillo is the common name for this wood in Southern Mexico. "Verde" is the Spanish word for the color green. Also called Mexican greenheart. It is no relation to the green heart from Suriname. The wood is dense and closed grained, enabling the wood to take a glassy smooth polish without the use of a sanding sealer. Colors range from fluorescent lime green (sawdust) to leaf green, brown, and red. It is a fine wood which is suitable to use in fine articles, turnery, and box construction. Our stock is logged by hand and hauled out of the mountains with mules. Mexico. Beautiful lime green color! It could be great for intarsia and with the fine grain it is great for turning. There are some cracks in the crotchwood figure. There is one 4" check on the edge grain.
