Collection: Beefwood

Beefwood, Grevillea striata, is a small to medium sized Australian species. Trees grow 25 to 45 feet tall with diameters of 12 to 24 inches; some trees grow up to 36 inches in diameter. The wood is very dense with a coarse texture that mills satisfactorily with sharp hand and power tools. It glues well. Quartersawn grain shows beautiful flecks due to this hardwood's large medullary rays. Beefwood is a fairly rare wood even for Australian woodworkers. It is very rare in North America.
