Itauba Lumber

This beautiful Itauba is from Eastern Brazil. Colors range from reds to browns with a combination of golden yellow. The wood works well with sharp tools and takes a high natural polish that is glassy and smooth. The grain is generally interlocked, giving some three dimensional properties to quarter sawn faces. Pomelle figure may be present. Pin holes or minor end checks may exist in the sapwood. This wood has air dried for 2.5 years as of November of 2023 and may contain some residual moisture. The ends are wax sealed. Boards over 36" may have a slight bow or twist. Enjoy this South American beauty! This piece has checks. Please see pictures for details.
