W26647 specs:
27 lbs. 24-1/16″ x 16-3/4″ (down to 15-1/2″) x 2-5/8″

Also known as Indian Apple, this unique species from South America has golden sapwood when first milled that darkens to a rich American Cherry color within a month or two.  The heartwood is marketed in veneer form as Tineo.  Heartwood colors are strikingly beautiful with a bluish black variegated stripe through pinkish red.    Steinway Piano Company makes a high end grand piano out of this wood!  Tineo is unstable until dried with considerable shrinkage during the drying process.  Our larger turning stock is sold freshly cut and will need to be twice turned or allowed to move after shaping. Lumber is dry and usually surfaced on two sides.  The wood is easy to work and glues well.  Subtle and very exotic!

Kiln dried and surfaced on two sides.

W26647: Quartersawn. Large 6″ split on face. 4″ end split. There are also a couple other checks throughout the board. Fiddleback figuring and great color. Great piece of wood if you can work around the defects!
