This salvaged Redwood is mostly red with some black areas or streaks. It has aged for several hundred years in a log on the forest floor before being cut into woodturning material in April of 2023. It is considered freshly cut and contains full moisture but dries quickly and with ease. Faces have been surfaced before being completely wax sealed. Since this Redwood is from old growth stock and has tight growth rings, it has great workability as well as fantastic mineral coloring! The wood cuts easily, turns well, and glues well. Occasional end checks may be present. Occasional dark spots in photos are small areas with rot (pecky). We know you will enjoy working this Pacific Northwest gem.
