Fiddleback Maple, a classic at Cook Woods, yields picturesque turning projects! Along with fiddleback, some cluster burls & spalting may be present. The Maple tree was dead standing for a considerable number of years, which helped slowly dry the wood, producing higher quality blanks. Blanks have been wax sealed to protect quality. As of September 2018, most blanks have lost 50% of their moisture or more; some having lost up to 80%. You’ll love turning this attractive wood! This piece has some quilting present on the flatsawn present with some clusterburls. There are heavy fiddleback on the riftsawn face.
