Exhibition Grade Amboyna Burl Slice

Amboyna Burl, Pterocarpus indicus, is the World's rarest and most expensive burl, possessing incredible colors and patterns. It was used for the first Rolls Royce's dashboards. It is moderately easy to work and takes a very smooth, high polish that makes pens absolutely outstanding! This wood has air dried for 12 years and may contain a little bit of residual moisture but most is dry and ready to use. Live edges, incursions, voids, and minor checks may be present. Please see photos or inquire. This slice has some rough edges present on the sawn edge, mostly on the back face. The numbered face has a 1-1/2" long split to the right of the numbers. There are a few small bark incursions.
