This salvaged Redwood is mostly red with some black areas or streaks. It has aged for several hundred years in a log on the forest floor before being cut into woodturning material in May of 2022. It is considered freshly cut and contains full moisture. Faces have been surfaced before being completely wax sealed. Since this Redwood is from old growth stock and has tight growth rings, it has great workability as well as fantastic mineral coloring! The wood cuts easily, turns well, and glues well. Occasional end checks may be present. The dark spots in photos are small areas with rot (pecky). We know you will enjoy working this Pacific Northwest gem. This piece has a soft edge.
