This wood is from logs that were cut in the late 1980's and early 1990's and have recently been milled into high grade blocks and squares. The wood dried substantially in log form and while some turning blanks are completely dry, others will have residual moisture. We have cut out most of the knots. There may be an occasional knot/small incursion or check, most of which are outside of the turned area with the exception of a few. Box heart is present in some of the bowl blanks and occasionally a black line can develop into a ring shake. This is an exceptional species for turning! It’s extremely easy to mill, glue and turn, yielding a high natural polish that is sure to please all turners.
