Collection: Shibadan

From Guyana, South America, Shibadan is a hard and strong wood with fine grain that is typically straight but can be irregular. Heartwood color is tan or orange to rose-red, often streaked with purple or brown and becoming brownish-yellow to medium brown on exposure. The sapwood is yellowish and paler than the heartwood, but not sharply demarcated. Shibadan’s bending strength is medium and crushing strength is high. It is easy to work & finish, taking staining and polishing satisfactorily. This rare South American hardwood is from the genus, Aspidosperma.
