Collection: Louro Preto

Louro Preto is a Cordia spp. that originates from central and northern South America. The bark of all cordia trees produces a white smoke-like dust when snapped in half. Louro Preto trees are usually 40 to 65 feet tall with diameters ranging from 10 up to 30 inches in a few. The wood works well and takes a high natural finish. It has excellent acoustic properties for instrument making. Colors in this hardwood typically fall between Ziricote and Bocote, as Louro Preto is related to both species. Woodworkers will enjoy the slightly spicy fragrance when the wood is worked.
