DETAILS

This rare Cocobolo was imported in 2014 from Costa Rica with the proper CITES required documentation. It has been air dried and is mostly dry; however, there may be some residual moisture, especially in thicker pieces. Quarter sawn wood will suit instruments well! Other uses may include boxes, pen blanks, knife scales, intarsia, inlay, jewelry, and other fine, small projects. Large pieces may be used for furniture. Ends are typically wax sealed while some boards and blanks are completely wax sealed. Great color and patterns. There is an 1/8" check in the sapwood edge grain only that is not visible on the faces.

Ends are typically wax sealed while some boards and blanks are completely wax sealed. There is a check in the heartwood that follows the contour of the sapwood on the numbered face that is about 1/2" deep at the deepest point. Below the numbers on the edge grain only there is a full length check that goes between the heartwood and the sapwood that might go in about 1" at most, that is not visible on the faces. This would be 60% usable for acoustic guitar backs ranging from Jumbo to Classical. We have priced this accordingly, this piece is sold "as-is". Must be able to work with the noted defects.
