Australian Murray Red River Gum is hard, heavy, and dense.  It's favorite haunts are  flowing water in creeks and rivers.  Colors range from rich reds in the heartwood to creamy white in the sapwood.  Certain logs contain  "basket weave" figure that has incredible depth and silky smooth grain  caused from interlocked grain structure.  Truly a special wood for unique projects.  This is truly a special wood for unique projects.  It glues and works well; planer skip is possible in some boards.  Kiln dried and surfaced on two sides

Planer skip, rough edges, and resin voids are present in all blanks. Blanks typically range from flat to 1/8" bow. Many pieces are unevenly cut but we have measured the smallest dimension. Completely wax sealed. Air dried for 1 year and have lost 30 to 60 percent of their moisture content. 2" thick blocks will have lost more moisture than 3-4" thick blocks. May have shrinkage in areas between 1/16" to 3/16". There may be 1-3" long checks that are between 1/8" to 3/8" deep. Generally these occur in areas of shrinkage. They can be filled or worked around as long as you're aware of them.

9 lbs. 44-1/8″ x 6-15/16″ x 3/4″

DETAILS

Yellowheart (Euxylophora paraensis or common name Pau Amarello) grows on Brazil's Eastern coastline from the equator South to Rio.  The color in the heartwood is a pronounced vivid yellow with creamy white sapwood.  There is striping if one looks closely at the grain between the rings.  It is also called Brazilian Satinwood for the iridescent ribbon figure that is in quarter sawn stock.  Our stock is kiln dried and surfaced on two faces.  It works and glues well, taking a high polish since the wood is dense and durable.  It is a light, subtle figure that is not as pronounced as fiddleback or curl but still adds depth & extra beauty to the wood.  Boards may have a rough edge or small end/surface check. 95 percent free of defects. May have minor planer bite.

Heavy figure. Quarter sawn.

DETAILS

Dalbergia tucerensis (Panama Rosewood) is a true rosewood from equatorial America.  This species is also known as Nicaraguan or Guatemalan rosewood and Granadillo.  This is a little known species that is used for fancy boxes, marimbas, guitars, ukuleles, and other high end applications.  The wood has a bright ringing tap tone with good sustain.  The wood works easily and has iridescent shimmer in quarter sawn stock. Colors are usually even brown with a hint of red or dark stripes in some boards. There is a very limited supply available.

It has been carefully kiln dried and surfaced on two sides. A few pieces have pin holes which produce beautiful black striping. This is very typical of true Rosewoods. There is occasional planer skip/rough surface on some boards. There are only 200’ board feet available – purchase quickly before it sells out!

Nice tap tone with good sustain. 4" end check that is on the opposite end of the numbers. There is small, sound pin knots next to the "5" shown in photos. Planer skip on one face. There is a rough edge 1" long, 1/2" wide, and 1/8" deep. This was originally cut for jumbo sides. This could still work for ukulele sides if you can work around the defects. Sold AS IS with defects.
