Chamaecyparis lawsoniana is a cypress in the genus Chamaecyparis, family Cupressaceae, or Port Orford-cedar in its native range (although not a true cedar). C. lawsoniana is native to the southwest of Oregon and the far northwest of California in the United States, occurring from sea level up to 1,500 m (4,900 ft) altitude in mountain valleys, often along streams. Air dried for up to 10 years. Surfaced on two sides. Old Growth Port Orford Cedar. These have been carefully air dried since 2007. Quartersawn faces show fiddleback! Ideal for acoustic guitars. These are incredible quality with no visible knots except on W24469 which we subtracted from the billing size. Also revered in Japan as a sacred wood and is called Hinoki. You will be hard pressed to find better billets than these! W24469: High growth rings. Growth rings are really tight. Heart is right on the corner edge. Quartersawn faces. 2" off usable wood. Small bark corner edge. Small area of heartwood on corner edge. We siubtracted the area with the heart check 52" x 3" x 3" on the corner edge.
