This South American wood is rare on the market and is in limited supply. Our stock exhibits dark stripes through rich tannish-brown with some red. The wood resembles striped Ebony or for the boards with less contrast, Brazilian Rosewood. It is dense (heavier than Brazilian Rosewood & East Indian Rosewood), closed grained, and non-porous. Ease of workability, stability in service, and beautiful finish are among the best attributes of this premium hardwood. Jewelry boxes, humidors, furniture, instruments, and other fine articles can easily be made into superb woodworking projects.
Kiln dried, surfaced on two sides & ready to use. There may be a minor surface check or two. Longer boards may have 1/8" bow that lays flat with minimal pressure. Expect an occasional bug hole. These are normal for the species. Each board in these packs averages 90% clear or better.
