A relatively rare species originating in Paraguay, Argentina, and Bolivia. Although it is not a true Rosewood it shares many of the same qualities and colors. It is less expensive than true Rosewood which is a definite advantage! Used extensively for flooring, cabinets, decking, turning, and fine articles. Kiln dried and ready to use, nice color contrast. Chechen
Chechen is also known as Black poisonwood, Caribbean rosewood, Chechen, and others. It is not a true rosewood but has a similar high polish possible when finished. There is a two tone grain pattern that is also similar to the rosewoods. This species is used for furniture, cabinets, Jewelry boxes, and humidors. Colors range from browns, pink, reds, golden, and black. Kiln dried and surfaced on two sides. Nice rich colors and figured in many. W11634: 6″ end check on one face. 6 lbs. W11635: 7″ end check. A few burl eyes with small incurisons. Nice figure. 9 lbs.
