Genuine Honduras Mahogany – Swietenia macrophylla has warm honey/brown colors. Often this hardwood has exceptional fiddle back and/or plum pudding figure. Santos mahogany is not a true mahogany but has similar grain structure and appearance.  Slightly denser, it is still easily worked and has an aromatic fragrance that smells more like a rosewood than the majority of true rosewoods (Dalbergia).  Interlocked grain makes a striped appearance on quartered stock.  Kiln dried and usually surfaced on two sides.  Brazil. Myroxylon balsamum. Also can be called Cabreuva.  W16796: One pin hole and  a1″ hairline check on one face.  Nice figure and aroma!
