Although not a true Ebony, Texas Ebony is just as dense and has similar working properties with less of a tendency to split. This is a very rare species that seldom makes it to market. We were fortunate enough to obtain some magnificent stock with some very long and wide widths. Most stock has air dried 3 yrs. & is surfaced on 2 sides. Texas Ebony somewhat resembles Bocote (cordia sp.) Bone dry Texas Ebony! Nice translucent goldens with some darker ring stripes. W16734: Planer skip on one face. Perfectly quartersawn.

Emanating From Asia, this unique species (though not a true rosewood) shares many of the same colors and working properties of the true Dalbergias. The wood ranges in color from warm oranges and reds to almost black streaks. The streaks are very defined, unlike many woods. The wood is a bit stringy on the edges when milled but sanding or scraping removes this with little effort. This is one of our new favorites that is becoming popular quickly! Limited supply. Asia. Air dried for 2 years and wax sealed.
