Tabebuia donnell-smithii Primavera is also called white mahogany although it has no relation to the swetenias. It is a beautiful wood that is easy to work and finish and glues easily. Trees growing in the higher elevations of the Mexican Pacific and south developed the best figure. Lowland trees are generally white with some yellow and are void of figure. Primavera must be cut in the dark of the moon to reduce the damage caused by insects that eat the sap that is present in the trees when it is cut in the full of the moon. Colors include red, orange, yellow, and brown. W16798: Quartersawn with really nice figure. 2″ check on the edge of the boards end. Dry and ready to use.

Cocobolo grows on a thin band along the Pacific Coast of Mexico down through Central America. Our stock is selectively cut and logged by hand in Mexico, squared by chainsaw, and drug out of the forest by Mules. This is a very environmentally low impact procedure. Cocobolo is a true Rosewood, similar in color & tap tone to Brazilian Rosewood and considered to be a good substitute. It is denser than most Rosewoods and oilier. For best results in gluing, epoxy is recommended. Cocobolo has great working properties & turns to a naturally high polish. The colors range from any combination of orange, red, yellow, & black to violet. For this reason, it has also been called rainbow wood. Mexico and Central America. Kiln dried and surfaced. These are quartersawn except for 16802 which is rift sawn. Suitable for instrument use.
