Customers Rating:
Garapeira is a yellow wood from Pará to Rio Grande do Sul and in the Atlantic Rainforest, particularly in the states of Bahia and Espírito Santo. Its height varies between 65 and 110 feet. It blooms in August and September, when the plant is completely leafless. Its fruits ripen in January and February. It is often used for crosses, doors, blinds, sashes, trims, plankings, baseboards, plank flooring, parquet, planks, stairs ladder, decorative furniture, tool handles and transportation. Common names also include Amarelão, Jataí, Barapibo, Cumarurana, and Apuleia leiocarpa. Though it is hard to work on a planer, it is excellent for sanding, lathe work and drilling. These beautiful blanks were cut 8 months ago and have lost some (10-20%) of their original moisture but are considered freshly cut. They are ideal for twice turning. Nearly all pieces are wax sealed to protect them during shipping and prior to use.
