DETAILS
Philippine Ebony Burl, Dipterocarpaceae spp. is a stunning burl is from the forests of Southeast Asia. This rare burl has interesting colors ranging from black, gray, and yellow to a golden straw.  The wood is dense, working well with sharp tools.  It is well suited for turning lidded boxes, pool cues, pens, spindles, and bottle stoppers.  It is also ideal for boxes, jewelry, clocks, and more.  Note: this is not a true Ebony but has many of the same characteristics including color similarities, density, and workability. Pin holes are common and surface checks are present; generally they will turn away unless noted on the individual descriptions. Some blanks have spalting with beautiful black ink lines.  Some spalted areas are soft and will need CA glue if you want to use the wood for bottle stoppers or pens.

Burl trim box. Random sizes great for inlay and small articles. Checks, pin holes, incursions and other natural defects present.
