Collection: Orange Agate

Orange Agate, Platymiscium spp., is native to South America. It has orange-red color that darkens upon exposure to the sun. There is a slight change of color from the heartwood to the sapwood but it is not sharply demarcated. The grain in this hardwood is mostly straight but can be interlocked in some trees. The wood is difficult to dry but is stable in use. Orange Agate wood works satisfactorily and finishes well. It has medium to coarse grain that takes a high natural luster. Uses include furniture, boxes, flooring, turned articles and more.
