Australian Brush Box is rare on the US woodworking market. It is ideal for flooring, boxes, and woodturning articles and has the possibility of beautiful figure. From Eastern Australia, Brush Box trees, Lophostemon confertus, grow to heights of 120 ft. at the minimum, while diameters are 2-4 ft. with some of the largest in the 5-6 ft. range. The tree prefers gullies and creeks with moisture. Brush Box is an evergreen rather than a eucalyptus species. The wood is dense and resistant to termites and other insects. It has an appealing iridescent shimmer and finishes with a high polish.
