Maple Burl 12-20-16

Oregon Big Leaf Maple is slightly coarser than European or Eastern Hard Rock Maple and as so is somewhat harder to work. Despite this, the beauty of the wood easily overcomes any difficulties in working. Maple is a wonderful wood for those who seek a creative flare in their projects. All stock is cut from high grade burls. Bark incursions are present (brownish spots on blanks) and are not considered a defect. Bark incursions shrink as they dry and may develop a check. This is beautiful material that will make exceptional turning projects! From our new supplier, this is some of the best Maple burl we’ve seen in years! Great colors and amazing figure will make your projects stand out! The material has dried in large burls for a year and is drier than most freshly cut stock; however it is still considered freshly cut. All blanks are wax or shellac sealed.  They are ideal for twice turning. You can't go wrong with this great burl!
