Tetraclinis articulata Thuya is always used in the burl form and has to be dug up. The burl is found in the stump wad. The tree grows along Northern Africa along the Mediterranean and on the island of Malta. Dense, with even density between growth rings. It is very similar in appearance to redwood burl but the even density found in Thuya and high polish make it superior. The burl is available in veneer form and occasionally small blocks or boards. Rare and beautiful with golden brown and black burl eyes. Uses include: inlay, intarsia, boxes, and high end turned articles. Northern Africa
